Holiday Party/2011 Finale

Holiday Party

For the 36th and final Freaky Deeky episode of 2011, we wanted to do something special. We have been complicating things with more involved plots and a new studio, which had produced both good and bad results, and we decided to shed all that and go for an old school episode that could easily be confused for an episode from 2009, if not for a change in hosts.

A change in hosts was what made this episode so special though! Only a couple people knew that our former superstars and current super-callers Ashley Sierra and Eric Zuelke were going to be part of the episode, but Bobby conspired secretly with Ashley and Eric to have them host the show! (Full disclosure: those primadonnas said they wouldn’t come back if they couldn’t host) So when Bobby called the special guests (who were covered by a giant red bag) out on to the stage and revealed them, almost all of the 20+ people in attendance at Hotbed were just as surprised as you that Ashley and Eric were there!

We were also joined by musical guest Brent Koenig, who provided the soundtrack for the show for most of 2009, making it a truly “old school” show. Instead of using a plot, we just wanted to have some fun, to shut up and dance, so to speak. And that’s exactly what we did! Hannukah Harry got angry at Santa for stealing all the lap-sitters, and a religious war to end all religious wars began….and ended. The differences were settled when Harry had a very long and intimate sit on Santa’s lap. We also celebrated Evan LeFavor’s birthday with special cupcakes made by Tomahawk Tassels, and when we say special we mean they were strawberry. Get your mind out of the gutter.

Other than that, it’s hard to remember too much of the episode as we accidentally did not record audio, and for our listening party we were unable to hear anything so we just listened to Rhapsody in Blue (which went surprisingly well with Freaky Deeky, by the way) and Christmas songs. Don’t worry though, we will be able to get a copy of the audio from MTN, and the episode will be up on our website soon!

Thank you to all of you who tuned in in 2011! It was a year of big changes for us, and thank you for sticking with us. We wouldn’t be here without you.

Stay tuned as we will be making some “Best of” posts the next couple of Tuesdays on MPLS.TV as part of our new Freaky Deeky Deep Cuts blog! Our return date in 2012 is not yet locked in stone, so follow us on twitter or “like” us on facebook to stay up to date on all things Freaky Deeky! See you in 2012!
