In a month dedicated to black history it seems especially poignant to celebrate a man who helped pioneer a show that was not only monumental in its accomplishments of recognizing black musical artists, but also in bringing the hippest fashion and the hottest dance moves to homes across America.
That show of course was Soul Train and that man was the legendary Don Cornelius.
Did you know that before the classic “TSOP (The Sound of Philadelphia)” became the theme song for Soul Train, the original theme song when the show first aired in 1971 was a tune by King Curtis called “Hot Potatoes”?
It seemed fitting then, out of appreciation and gratitude, to create this little “hot potato” in honor of Don Cornelius. Made with love (and of course, with peace and soul).
