Jess Lindgren (aka jesspants) is a Minneapolis-based blogger and the woman behind this week’s Tumblr pick: Sidewalk Finds.
Why did you decide to start Sidewalk Finds?
I grew up in a family that takes pictures of everything. Attempting to leave a holiday gathering is a serious process, because everyone has to get ten shots of everyone standing next to everyone else. It’s awesome, but time consuming. As a result of my snap-happy fam, documenting life and the world around me is a big part of who I am. Equally important to me is literally taking the time to stop and smell the roses–or daisies, in my case. Sidewalk Finds was started in March of 2011, as a way to share the little things in this world that I think are amazing and under-appreciated and/or overlooked.
What kinds of things catch your eye when you’re wandering the city?
Everything. Quite honestly, I have to build 5-10 minutes into everywhere I go so I’ve got time to stop and take pictures.
What is your favorite post of all time?
I found this wrench in the asphalt near Lake of the Isles a few years ago. This past fall, I went back to check on my favorite wrench, and was very sad to find that someone dug it up out of the road!
What do you do when you’re not blogging?
I knit. I scoot. When scooting isn’t an option, I walk. I eat steak and more buffalo chicken than anyone should. I am a patron of the arts. I live with a cow. I love life, and make a lot of funny faces.
What do you think of Tumblr as a blogging platform?
I like everything about it, except it’s COMPLETELY MISSING a user interaction piece. I am not a fan of the fact that I can’t publicly comment on other posts except by re-blogging things, and that kind of defeats the purpose of my blog.
